Tuesdays with Morrie Maggie ♥

I haven't been updating since the previous emo post so I decided to update before my blog dies again. The emo issue is sorta resolved but I'm still emo. Meeting up with Alex and SY previously had not made me feel any closer to them. Not because we still quarrelled - we had forgotten to mention that incident altogether and I love my friends for the fact that our friendship stands no matter what - but due to a reason I myself do not know...things have simply changed. I guess camp and boys are just not my all-time favourite topics. Maybe it'll get better when we start school, if we are even starting school together. Moving on from the emo phase, the past 3 weeks had been pretty eventful so perhaps I shall just update randomly.

*Warning : extremely long post ahead

Loads of my Tuesdays have been spent with Maggie so I shall just post pictures instead of details. Maybe one day when I'm old and dying, I'll realise that my Tuesdays have been valuable life lessons and write a book called "Tuesdays with Morrie Maggie".

The meal JY, Maggie and I shared at Astons'. 3 different main courses with 6 different sides and a shared glass of grape soda. This is heaven.

After our session of singing, Maggie proceeded to opening the door to leave.

And we discovered that we're stuck! Room with an open window - good or bad, I don't know. People looking in like we're monkeys in the zoo but on the bright side, we managed to get our next door neighbours for help.

This was another night when we wanted to try out the food at Indulgz. Upon reaching, 3 of us suddenly felt like pigging out so we strode right past Indulgz into our usual steamboat buffet.

All ready for a feast!

Last friday night was late night movie date with my ex-colleagues. There was Caifeng, Siti, Asri, Zhiyi, Jeremy, SK, Andy, Parry and 2 other people I don't know...I haven't seen them in such a long time! I remembered how I used to be a "freshie" over there...and now I'm "alumni", a stranger to the new "freshies". Hahahah! How time flies! This was our first outing since I left in late May... We used to do this all the time when I was working there and we non-pm shift people would always work OT so we can wait for the pm shift people to end work and head off to Plaza Sing together. CF, Eugene and I would always shop for honey stars to snack during the show. Lol! Anyways, this time Asri actually joined us! I'm shocked! It must be because I was coming as well. Wahahaha! And he said my hair is nice! Lalalala~ Although all I did was dye it red and it's now faded to a different shade of brown =X

Movie that night was The Dark Knight which is such an awesome choice! Thankfully it's not horror because Huihui wasn't there to scream with me this time. Screaming alone would be totally embarrassing. Instead, I had Siti next to me who kept going on about how hot Michael Caine Christian Bale was... I, on the other hand, was paying more attention to Heath Ledger. I was surprised he acted in this since I knew he died of drug overdose a loooong time ago. Apparently this would be his last work...I guess editting of this show took a really long time. Zhiyi said he took more drugs during the filming of this movie to get into his role, but others said it's due to depression. I don't know....I just thought that it is such a pity. I loved him in 10 things I hate about you and I think the Joker is such an interesting character, he would have played it well without the drugs...

*Note: Spoiler ahead

I personally loved the movie despite it being a little too lengthy. It is not like your typical superhero movie. I thought that this was more realistic and the focus was not solely on Batman and his super-cool gadgets, but on the civillians, the circumstances and threat, the fear and desperation. It showed how superheroes have times of weaknesses as well. This made the movie a rather depressing one because it made me feel so helpless. Heath Ledger had played the Joker really, really well. He was so disturbing, so psychotic and soooo manipulative. The way he played with people's minds and relished in the victory of seeing fear in people's faces... I think the best part of his acting would be the scene where he skipped out of the hospital in a nurse outfit. Everyone thought he was hilarious in his outfit and wig, and the way he played with the detonator, but I thought that just accentuated his psycho-ness. Le sigh! I wish he can be resurrected... "Why so serious?"

I also loved the part near the end where the ferry of prison inmates and ferry of innocent civillians were made to kill each other. It was either detonating the others' bomb or get killed themselves. It is everyone's first instincts to save themselves and that's what the Joker thought as well. I almost cried during the part when 1 of the prisoners approached the army people on board, told him he can tell the rest that he took the detonator by force, and promptly threw it out of the window. "Give it to me and I will do what you should have done 10 minutes ago". On the civillians side, it was also touching that they ultimately didn't do it, althought majority voted yes and they thought the prisoners deserved to die since they robbed others of their own lives. When the Joker's plan had failed him, Batman told him that not everyone is as ugly as him...which is what sets humans apart from other creatures. The humane side of us can be so heartwarming.

The symbolism of Harvey Dent getting half his face burnt was also very meaningful. It was when he started becoming two-faced, both literally and metaphorically. (Goodness! I'm getting a tad too influenced by my Lit classes) I thought that the make-up was really gruesome and realistic too. Only thing is that I don't think a man burnt like that would be able to move or talk much, much less drink alcohol and seek revenge! Batman's uber-cool gadgets are also uber-cool and his Lamborghini is ohmytian!

*End of spoiler

The movie only ended at 2am so by the time I reached home, it was nearly 3am! Thankfully, Jeremy drove that day so he gave Zhiyi and I a ride home. Hurray for drivers living in the East! And I like his car-van-thingamajig too! There's this metal grille separating the back and the front seats, music blasting at the front with pretty lights and a sofa bed at the back where I almost wanted to fall asleep on...not the usual cool, sleek car but I thought it was very cozy. I want a car like that! Except it's too boyish and I can't drive. Lol!

Talking about driving, congrats to Maggie for passing her driving test! Considering that she is always so blur, I'm afraid she'll confuse the accelerator with the brake, I'm really proud of her for passing on her first try! Yay! Maggie Y.M.Q, I hereby promote you to become my brother-cum-chauffeur! =X

Saturday was busy, busy, busy. Met up with Denise, Zee, Maddie and Jas at Starbucks for a dose of caffeine and some catching up before submitting our Orientation forms and met up with Adlin (the first since she got back from Aus this time!) and Alex. We then went for our Sec 4/7 outing together. There was Jolie, Steph, Van (nae the perv), Lavinia, Grace, Rachel and Hazel. We all then da-bao-ed food (Carl's Jr is yummy!!!! Sinful. Humongous portion. But yummy.) to the Sky Garden at Suntec and picnic-ed there. The grass patch was full of flies so we sat on the cement ground instead, and Jolie kept insisting on taking a pic on the grass patch afterwards. Being the crazy bunch we are, we talked and laughed alot as usual, and end up in need of therapy because Jolie flashed us. There's this pic of her trying to act seductive too and she actually put her hands over her boobs.... wait till I get my hands on that photo. Camwhored alot before going down to watch this symphony band performance by a school from New Zealand. They're like awesome...the music sounded like it came from a CD! And guys younger than us on a violin solo? The SACians are willing to turn paedo. (Joking!)

Nice, quiet place (apart from us noisy bunch)!

Jolie, being spastic as usual and insisted on playing Traffic Light (which isn't even a game!) and ToogiToogi which is a crazy game with us crazy people

Adlin cheated and didn't even jump! Pfft.

Our group shot after the picnic

After that was meeting up with JH (there, your name in pink again), Isebelle, Yiwei, Siying, Fenglin, and our dearest seniors Weitian, Zuwei, Zhiyuan, Darren and Eugene for dinner at New York New York. Food was good, company was good, and free cotton candy was better!

Fooooood, glorious food!

My chicken chop was good =))

Ise loooves her cotton candy too, huh? (Why the grimace?)

And here are some other random pictures!

Here's Beauty, who looks so confused when I was playing with her and the big carton box =X

She attacked me with her big, wet nose! =((

I got cheated by the arcade and was upset so JH decided to treat me on a ride on the Ferris Wheel. Wahahhaha!

We couldn't afford a ride on The Flyer so here's the budget version. Lol!

Us on our budget ride!

Pretty wall painting at Gelare

Doesn't this waffle with ice cream and whipped cream and fruits with a drizzle of maple syrup just tempts you?!

Pretty broccoli arranged by me! And cooked by me!

Carbonara with linguine, ham, mushroom and sausages. Prepared solely by me! All JH did was cut the ingredients =P
